Feature in Volume 1 of the Odradek Zine by Hannah Hightman.

I journeyed to Brooklyn for the launch of Vol. 1 of Odradek Zine—a night awash in color and strangeness, where taxidermy whispered its secrets and the written word danced, all in the spirited company of Hanna Hightman.

If you’re curious to learn more about Hannah and her curious world, find her on Instagram @hannahype or step into her cabinet of wonders at theodradek.com.

ArtBoxy Critique - December Exhibitions

“Hi Isabell,

I hope this message finds you well! It’s been a joy to witness your incredible artistry throughout December’s exhibitions.

Your artwork “The Library Mouse” showcased at Nicoleta Gallery was truly remarkable. The intricate details in the 1/12 scale library setting, combined with the ethical sourcing of the white feeder mouse, created a delightful narrative. The warm wood tones and the thoughtful arrangement evoke a sense of curiosity, inviting viewers to explore every corner of the scene. Attendees appreciated the whimsical craftsmanship, noting how it sparks the imagination and elicits a sense of nostalgia.

“Cozy Nights,” displayed at Andakulova Gallery, also captured the audience’s hearts. The portrayal of the taxidermy mouse nestled in a cozy armchair is both charming and intimate. The intricate textile choices and the plush environment evoke a sense of comfort, transporting visitors to a serene world. Your attention to detail and masterful blending of textures invites a connection that feels personal, resonating deeply with those who experienced it.

Lastly, “Cozy Knits” displayed at CASA DEL ARTE Palmaz, stands out with its unique concept. The mounted roadkill chipmunk in a vintage rocking chair, adorned with handcrafted knitted attire, creates a captivating interplay between humor and artistry. Viewers were enchanted by the engaging narrative and visual whimsy, as your playful approach brings life to unexpected materials and themes.

Overall, your ability to blend techniques with profound emotional depth really shines through in these pieces. Each artwork tells a story that captivates viewers, showcasing your exceptional talent for anthropomorphic taxidermy.

It’s wonderful to see your work in such a significant space!

I am genuinely excited for the upcoming exhibitions next year and can’t wait to witness the next chapter of your journey!

Warm regards,
Linda
