I am also a writer
Alongside my passion for taxidermy, I’ve always been drawn to the written word. Writing has been a part of me since childhood—whether it was making lists, jotting down little poems, or keeping a diary. To me, writing is another form of art, a beautiful way to express thoughts, feelings, and imagination.
My first Novel
In 2011, I published my first novel with DeBehr Publishing in Germany. The original title was "derzeit nicht und irgendwann", but the publisher released it under the title "E-Mail für mich" (E-Mail for Me)
ISBN: 978-3939241300
200 pages in paperback.
Book Overview
When Emma meets Ben, she instantly knows he’s the love of her life. The two embark on a not-so-ordinary kind of relationship—one that leaves Emma with thousands of questions, many of which go unanswered for a long time. Ben doesn’t seem willing to fully commit to a life with her. Although he returns her love, something always feels off... and just when it seems like things are finally turning around, he suddenly disappears.
Devastated, Emma throws herself into wild relationships and fleeting adventures. She experiences moments of true happiness, only to be pulled back into deep sadness—because Ben simply won’t leave her thoughts or her heart.
Then one day, out of the blue, she receives an email—from Ben!
When they finally meet again after all that time, the timing still doesn’t seem quite right for thinking about a shared future...
Once again, the carousel of emotions begins to spin—this time faster and more dizzying than ever before.

My second Novel
The following year, in 2012, I published my second novel with Laudatio Publishing: "Zwischen Herz und Verstand" (Between Heart and Mind).
ISBN: 978-3-941275-45-4
275 pages in paperback.
Book Overview:
Why choosing love isn’t always easy...
Lea should be content with her life. She’s married to Patrice, a charming Frenchman, and their everyday life is pleasant and worry-free.
And yet, Lea feels unfulfilled in her marriage. During a vacation together, she makes the difficult decision to leave him. But before she can tell Patrice, he suffers a serious accident and falls into a coma-like state.
Lea chooses to bring him home and care for him there.
In the midst of this emotionally overwhelming time, she unexpectedly crosses paths with Florian—her first love. The two quickly find themselves reconnecting, as Florian is also facing struggles in his personal life.
Old feelings begin to resurface, but Florian is now in a relationship with someone else.
Torn between her longing and her sense of responsibility, Lea is faced with a difficult question: Could their love still deserve a second chance

Creative writing
Between 2011 and 2015, I also organized creative writing courses for both adults and children. I loved bringing people together who shared a joy for writing, and watching them find their own voices.
In small groups or one-on-one, we gathered around my kitchen table and challenged ourselves with creative writing exercises. Often, we’d focus on a specific theme or choose a single keyword to inspire us. Then, everyone would take an hour to write in silence.
Afterward, we’d read our pieces aloud and discuss the results together. I was always amazed by how uniquely each person approached the same prompt. It was fascinating to witness the diversity of voices, styles, and interpretations—proof that every writer sees the world in their own wonderfully distinct way.

Blogger
Back in 2010, I started a blog called Shabby Chic and Co., where I documented the process of remodeling an old house in Germany. I was especially drawn to vintage, french-brocante and shabby styles, and loved incorporating taxidermy into my decorating.
I loved documenting the progress of our renovations, capturing the transformation through carefully composed photographs of each stage and every new detail in the decor. It was such a joy to share this journey with others who appreciated the same aesthetic—to connect, exchange ideas, ask for feedback, and offer or receive recommendations.
There was also something special about supporting small, local shops that carried the kind of interior treasures we all loved. It truly felt like being part of a vibrant, creative community—a colorful world full of inspiration and shared passion.
But by 2016, I stepped away from blogging—Life got busy, I planned a move from Germany to the USA and the shabby chic scene had started to shift in a direction I no longer identified with. Instead of honoring pieces with natural patina, people were simply painting everything white. It no longer felt authentic.
My first taxidermy related children's book
After moving to the USA, I paused my writing for a while.
Life quickly filled up—there was so much to do to settle in. I was focused on adjusting to a different culture and language, meeting new people, settling into a new apartment, adjusting to a new job and new coworkers, and of course, exploring the stunning Adirondack Mountains and all that New York State has to offer.
It wasn’t until 2023 that inspiration found its way back to me.
It all started with a gift from a friend: a vintage taxidermy duck with its wings spread wide. The duck only had one eye, and I immediately imagined him as a pirate—with an eyepatch, of course! That sparked the idea of pairing him with a brave little mouse in adventurous clothing. I named the mouse Little Wayne, and the duck became Frederick.
As I brought them to life through taxidermy, their story began to unfold on paper.
That summer, I self-published my first children’s book in English, The Adventures of Little Wayne - The Cheese Heist, through Amazon/KDP.
ISBN: 979-8853020900
Book Overview
The Adventures of Little Wayne
Join Little Wayne the mouse on an unforgettable day trip with his old friend, Frederik the duck. From the perfect cheese heist to a daring rescue mission, their journey is filled with excitement, laughter, and the joy of meeting new woodland friends along the way.
Step into a whimsical forest world where fairy tale charm meets imaginative storytelling—brought to life through the unique lens of anthropomorphic taxidermy art.
This heartwarming adventure invites readers of all ages to discover that taxidermy can be so much more than a "cruel and creepy craft"—it can tell stories, spark imagination, and bring characters to life in the most unexpected ways.

My second taxidermy related children's book
Then in 2024, inspiration struck again—this time at a thrift store.
I found a resin turtle figurine, and immediately imagined a tiny mouse house built on its back.
That idea bloomed into a new world, with new characters both in story and in mounted form.
This led to my second children’s book, Hazel and Clover, which I also self-published in the summer of 2024.
ISBN: 979-8333734983
75 pages in hardcover or 66 pages in paperback.
Book Overview
About Hazel and Clover

Join Hazel and Clover on their whimsical journey through the woods as they explore the beauty of the natural world and meet a host of charming woodland creatures along the way. Each animal they encounter shares delightful facts about their lives—their routines, habitats, favorite foods, and more—offering children a playful and educational glimpse into the wonders of wildlife.
This enchanting story is brought to life with whimsical, anthropomorphic taxidermy artwork and original photography that will capture the imagination of both children and adults.

The takeaway?
A passion for writing and a love for taxidermy can go hand in hand. In my world, they absolutely do.
